At the Grand Mosque of Briquetterie and Nkolmbong, Bazironde Distributes Hope at the Start of the Year

January 1–3, 2026. As the city of Yaoundé entered the new year, a less festive reality persisted in its working-class neighborhoods: entire families without enough to eat, widows without support, and elderly people left to fend for themselves. It was in this context that Bazironde chose the Grand Mosque of Briquetterie and the mosque of Nkolmbong as key distribution points for the Food Pack 2025 project.

Both mosques, true pillars of their communities, opened their doors and welcomed the Bazironde team with remarkable hospitality. The imams and mosque officials played a central role in mobilizing beneficiaries, ensuring that the most vulnerable were prioritized: widows, orphans, people with disabilities, and elderly individuals in difficult conditions.

Each food pack distributed contained rice, sugar, flour, and oil—essential items designed to sustain a household for several weeks. The distributions were carried out in an organized and dignified manner, where every recipient was received with respect, care, and humanity.

The volunteers were deeply moved by the stories they encountered: a widow raising six children alone, an elderly man abandoned by his family, a disabled woman unable to cook for days due to lack of food. For these individuals, this food pack was not a luxury—it was a lifeline.

By organizing this distribution at the very beginning of the year, Bazironde sent a powerful message: no one should start the year in hunger while others celebrate. Solidarity has no limits.

« I’m 72 years old and I live alone. My children are far away. When I received this food pack, I said Alhamdulillah. For the first time in a long time, I cooked a real meal. I felt less alone. »
