In Yaoundé, hundreds of children return to school with a new backpack
Under a bright October sky, Bazironde volunteers deployed to underprivileged neighborhoods in Yaoundé to distribute school kits for the Back To School 2025 project. The Cameroonian capital, a city of contrasts, is home to thousands of families for whom the start of the school year is synonymous with financial anxiety rather than joy.
The carefully prepared kits included backpacks, notebooks, pens, pencils, and various other essential supplies. But beyond the contents, it was the gesture itself that touched the families: someone had thought of them, someone had taken action.
Partner school administrators facilitated the distribution by identifying the most vulnerable children beforehand. Thanks to this coordination, each kit reached a child who truly needed it. Lines formed early in the morning, mothers holding their little ones by the hand, fathers sometimes silent but with shining eyes.
The emotion was palpable. For many of these parents, finding 5,000 to 10,000 FCFA for school supplies represented a huge, often impossible, sacrifice. That day in Yaoundé, Bazironde eased this burden—and gave these children the feeling of being supported.
This initiative is made possible thanks to the support of Muslim Aid Australia (MAA) and the blessing of Allah (SWT), who guides every step of our organization.
“My son told me he didn’t want to go to school because he was ashamed of not having a bag. That day, he received his backpack. The next morning, he got up before everyone else to go to school.”
